April 13, 2005 - LAKE OSWEGO, OREGON....Lake Oswego’s new community bank, The Bank of Oswego, announced the winner of their first annual drawing to benefit the Lake Oswego School District Foundation on Friday, April 1.

Lake Oswego resident Mae Madden, 89, allowed The Bank of Oswego to make a donation to the Lake Oswego School District Foundation for $1000 in Madden’s name.

“It’s so wonderful to be able to do something for our schools,” said Madden, a resident of Carman Oaks whose daughter and two grandchildren attended school in the Lake Oswego area.

Foundation Director Mary Puskas and Phon-a-thon Chair Mary Solaris both attended a small ceremony at The Bank of Oswego’s new facility in the Lake View Village to accept the donation on behalf of the Lake Oswego School District Foundation. The raffle drawing coincided with the Foundation’s Phon-a-thon, which took place on April 5, 6 and 7, and has raised $1.3 million to date in an effort to protect teaching positions affected by budget shortfalls and reduce the student-to-teacher ratios in the classroom.

To further The Bank of Oswego’s support of local schools, Chairman and CEO Dan Heine announced the Bank will match Madden’s donation by becoming a Starkweather Society member of the Foundation.
